But here, have a pic of one of my favorite heraldic beasties, the Boreyne.
Intelligence In The Land of Player Skill
-
Gamers often discuss the idea of "player skill" vs "character skill" in
games. That is: my wizard can speak Elvish--that's character skill--but my
wizard...
I had a DM in high school that hit the party with every obscure heraldic critter that had been excluded by the DMG, and I remember the Boreyne mainly because one of the other players made fun of how the DM chose to pronounce it :)
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those critters that shows up in homebrew extra-extended monster lists a lot, but which gets little love in supplements ... Maybe I'll slip one into Elegy in Ice :)
(er, the Monster Manual, though of course by definition it was also excluded by the DMG's compressed MM appendix) :)
ReplyDeleteLet me guess, he pronounced it the same as 'boring'.
