Enlist today!
So I made this thing called LasFodder: In the grimdark future there is only sci-fi fucking Viet Nam. It's a short roleplaying-ish add-on for the original 1987 Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader rules. You can read the first draft here.
I may run this via Google+ Hangouts some time. If you'd maybe like to play, just follow the chargen rules and record your results in the official rolls of Sampi Company.

Dude - you're a crazy-ass DM! :) I've never played in a session like the ones that you seem to run. I'm envious.
ReplyDeleteI am pleased you made sure that the chainsaw was in there :)
ReplyDeleteFor a supposed draft this is really good stuff!
(love the pics you added to the manuscript, btw)
"Things are much, much worse than you suppose."
ReplyDeleteThis is way cool! I'd love to play sometime.
Oh my god, you totally captured the grim essence of WH40K AND made it hilarious at the same time. It's like Paranoia! but...damn I just wet myself. When is your first online game? I want to enlist. For Humanity, FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
ReplyDeleteDude...I totally need to step into the 21st century, get a webcam/mic and join in on this...Jeff you are hero.
ReplyDeleteEcho squad reporting for duty.
ReplyDeleteEcho squad reporting for duty.
There's definitely a bit of "Starship Troopers" in there too, the movie version at least: "Fresh meat for the grinder!"
ReplyDeleteI love this, by the way, hope I get the chance to play.
This is one of the best things I have seen on the net lately.
ReplyDeleteThat is grade-A crazy. If I would ever run this it would be Aunus expedition in space instead of Vietnam (solely because of the operation name).
ReplyDeleteAt my local con a fellow has been running a Boxer Rebellion scenario for years called 55 Days In Peking.
ReplyDeleteThen he started GMing a sci-fi variant called 55 Hours On Uranus.
*Snerk* Can't top that.
DeleteI've never played Warhammer, and sadly, don't have time to start... but this is utterly fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBehold, the One True WH40K RPG!
ReplyDelete(Can you play a pitchfork-armed battle transvestite in RogueHeresyWatch? I think not.)
PS: thank you for ruining my Google reputation forever on page 1.
Jeff, I don't know if you do miniature wargaming also, but may I recommend 5150 by Two Hour Wargames for exactly this type of game? In fact, I wrote up a complete Rogue Trader conversion for it a while back. Let me know if you would like to take a peek at either.
ReplyDeleteNot bad. A little less elegant, pathos-generating than 3:16, a lot more fun and streamlined than Stars Without Number (which I always felt would best be used in a 40K setting). I only had time for a quick skim...looking forward to more in depth reading later.
ReplyDelete: )
Do you have a random mutation chart? I rolled a mutie...
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's in the 40K rulebook. IIRC it's d100.
ReplyDeleteThere's only one catch. Catch-40K.
ReplyDeleteI now have a webcam and know how to use it! When do the first suckers--um, recruits head into action?
