Clatto Verata Necktie!

I subscribe to Paizo's newsletter, though I must admit that I rarely read it. But the most recent issue's subject line caught my eye with the words Critical Fumble Deck. Now I know that a lot of gamers hate fumbles, but for me they are a cornerstone of Retro Stupid play. A lot of fun can be had tripping over imaginary deceased unseen turtles and accidentally mangling your friends and whatnot.

    When I was but a kidlet I had a great idea for an Ecology of the Invisible Turtle article to submit to Dragon for the April issue ... had all the details worked out in my head and it would have been a very fun read, but then the owner of the local game-shop pointed out that the serious "Ecology" articles never veered beyond the TSR stable, so they'd probably reject it, so I never wrote it :)

    Where did the ex-Invisible Turtle fumble first show up? I have vague inklings that it might have been in one of the Rolemaster Arms Law books, but does it predate that?

    Ktrey: I'll have to go check but I'm pretty certain the unseen turtle first appears on a fumble chart in either Arms Law or MERP.
