Dude, I dunno why but Shatnerdays are just better because of the pics.
ReplyDeleteShatner is the man, Shatnerday is the day :D
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I rang in the day by watching another episode of Star Trek; on this occasion, Spectre of the Gun.
ReplyDeleteI actually heard a Shatner anecdote on Shatnerday!
ReplyDeleteIt was from an older friend, who saw him quite by accident back in the 60s, during the height of his powers. She and her friends (all teenagers at the time) had set out for a day in downtown San Francisco. They walked into a department store that's no longer around (I think it was called The Emporium, but I could be wrong) and there he was--doing a reading of Shakespeare!
I guess he'd just put out an album of same, and he was doing a speaking tour. So here's Shatner, in the atrium of a department store, reading Hamlet or somesuch, in full Shatner form of course.
She said the most remarkable thing was that his face was a deep shade of pink, which contrasted sickeningly with the avocado-green blazer he was wearing.
With the Federation tightning the purse strings on military spending, Capt. Kirk turned toward advertisement as a new revenue stream.
ReplyDeleteBehold the new uniforms of the crew of the USS Enter..er...Toyota!.
