Sweet! I've seen that pic in the past and never understood why Andre the Giant was there. Just hanging out? Was he the dude in the one-horned-god costume?
Word has it that Andre and Arnold were actually very close friends, and often hung out together.
I heard one story might or might not be true: Arnold and Andre were out to dinner, and apparently Andre had his own rule that no one EVER paid for dinner when they were out with him. Well, Arnold knows Andre will try to pay the bill, so he goes off to use the restroom and sneaks away to try and pay the bill before it makes it to Andre. Well he's at the counter about to pay, when a pair of enormous hands close around his waist and pick him up, putting him down away from the counter - Andre had caught up to him and wasn't going to let him get away with it.
Dunno if that story is true or not, but looking at that picture, I'd believe it...
Cool pic. They weren't nicknamed Wilt the Stilt (aka The Big Dipper)and Andre the Giant for nothin'!
Is Arnold about 5'9" or 5'10"? That appears to be the case there. The difference in height is one thing, but the sheer mass of Wilt and Andre is surprising as well.

ReplyDeleteSweet! I've seen that pic in the past and never understood why Andre the Giant was there. Just hanging out? Was he the dude in the one-horned-god costume?
ReplyDeleteEither way, those two make Arnold look tiny!
IMDB says Andre played Dagoth, the end boss with the horn. I had heard that Princess Bride was filmed next door, but that may be apocryphal.

Awesome picture. LOL!
ReplyDeleteArnold looks like a halfling fighter!
ReplyDeleteAh-nuld is 6'2" and approximately 220lbs (slimmed down from Olympia weight of 235 for the movies), a large little man in this pic :P
