After a veeeeerrrryyyy long, and mostly unplanned, hiatus, Stuart and I got
together to play more Stargrave in recent days. It was good! It was also a
bit ...
Cool!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I see something about wrestling, I get worried... since I can't have any respect for WWE or TNA these days. I haven't been able to follow wrestling for awhile (having DVDs to Finland are expensive!), but I was a HUGE fan of CHIKARA and IWA Mid-South before I left the States.
I also loved All-Japan and UWFi in the 90s. Talk about surreal, I just watched a NOAH match on Youtube that had Chris Hero and Jun Akiyama trading forearms. I can't believe guys like Chris Hero and CM Punk (I have a pile of 60 minute matches between the two, and one 93 minute match!) have really made it. :D
I still try to watch TNA each week, but they sure do a lot to drive me away. Hoping to see William Regal in action is about the only reason I tune in one of McMahon's shows.
ReplyDeleteYou ever see Kaiju Big Battel? I actually interviewed Dr. Cube on my old blog. Chris Hero wrestled in that promotion against a variety of Giant Monsters.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the South in the 70s and 80s, so I was NWA all the way.
Thanks for tipping me off to Chikara, Jeff. The Best of DVD I just Netflixed was tons o' fun.
ReplyDeleteI saw some TNA the other week. I stopped flipping 'cause it was a bunch of dudes I used to watch in the late 90s -- S Steiner, Raven, etc. I didn't watch any matches, just Steiner being his usual jerky self. That was entertaining, but then it segued to some poorly acted behind-the-scenes crapola. No thanks.
These days I'd rather watch MMA anyway. The Ultimate Fighter is just as sudsy as pro wrestling anyway.
