I do not like the pastry on these mince pies at all. AT ALL. Crunchy and
far too sugary (which doesn't help with the crunch), I suppose at least

my favorite Elmore cheesecake
Elmore's not one of my faves, but something about the combination of swordbabe plus little weird dude both in front of a landscape begging to be explored just works for me.

You got to love the low-levelishness of the dude in the first picture carrying around a frying pan. That's a real adventurer!
ReplyDeleteMet Larry Elmore at Comicpalooza in Houston, TX. He is a really friendly guy who does not mind chatting with people. He really seems to enjoy life.
ReplyDeleteBig Elmore fan and I too have met him on several occaisions (mostly past Gen Cons). Made him laugh once.
ReplyDeleteReally nice, really friendly and just one heck of a damn good artist.
One of the things I like about Elmore is that his women, while often impractically dressed, at least look like real women and not grotesquely over-proportioned racks of T&A on tiny waists.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that chick in the first picture has some nicely toned arm muscles. She actually looks like she's be competent in a fight.
I always figured the little guy in the upper painting was a gnome. That's how I picture them looking, anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go ahead and say the guy in the lower picture is a xvart, making this the best xvart illustration to date. Nice work, Larry.
I think that lower picture was on the "Fantasy Hero Companion" from Hero Games. I really liked it the first time I saw it.
ReplyDeleteWord verification "hotte" :) LOL
I also enjoy Elmore's landscapes. They make me say, "Ooh! I want to go over there, up along that treeline, over hills and into that valley!"
ReplyDelete"Central Delaware beckons!"
ReplyDelete"...the combination of swordbabe plus little weird dude...."
ReplyDeleteNow there's a phrase you don't hear every day. Well, at least I don't.
And I second what Erin said.
So many Elmores ... so few vans with unpainted sides ...
