quick 1/72 update
Will Douglas, the coffee swillin' analog gamer, was nice enough to post a link to this page from Plastic Soldier Review with pics of all the Caesar brand 1/72 fantasy figures. Turns out you can get a plastic version of Gandalf in the adventurers set:The downside here is that four of the 19 figures in the box are random packs and so far I can't tell if the wizard is a sure thing or not.

Gandalf and Legolas.
ReplyDeleteDude, those are nice minis at nice prices. Good info, Mr Rients. Thanks for all yoo doo.
Okay, if you follow my link and scroll down to the pictures of the Adventurers, the ones I got are:
ReplyDeleteFirst row:
2 of the first one
2 of the second one
2 of the third one
2 of the fourth one
2 of the fifth one
Second Row:
2 of the first one
1 of the second one
2 of the third one
1 of the fourth one
2 of the fifth one
2 of the sixth one
Third Row:
2 of the first one
None of the second one
Fourth Row:
1 of the Big Guy.
So yeah, I do have two of the Wizard type. If you get a box and don't get a Wizard, let me know; I'm sure we can arrange something.
Thanks for the neat links Will and Jeff. I was browsing the Michigan toy site. If you go beyond strict fantasy, there is a wide array of historical ancient and medieval figures at reasonable prices. My future bad guys might happen to look like Assyrians or Polish knights.

Very neat; I might just get back into minis. I had thousands back in the day. Lead, like the Gods intended, not pewter. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the fact that the elves look taller than the adventurers is because they're supposed to be moer Tolkeinesque than D&D-esque.
