Ladies and gentlemen, the Red Skull
The second most hated Nazi in comics sure has a way with words. Panel from "Captain America and the Riddle of the Red Skull", reprinted in The Best of Simon and Kirby (Titan Books 2009).

I love how the Red Skull has a gigantic Swazi on his shirt, just in case anyone wasn't sure he was in the service of Evil!
ReplyDelete"Oh shit, Capt. Obvious, I didn't realize the dude with the gigantic red skull was evil!"
Yeah, in recent years, they removed the swastika.
ReplyDeleteJeff, not sure if you follow RAW or not. But, William Shatner was the guest host, this past Monday. Thought you might enjoy, this excerpt:

One of my favorite Marvel Villains!
ReplyDeleteWell, the Skull always was an adversarial DM. Not as bad a playing with DR Doom though, always with the railroad to TPK with Doom.
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a cunningly hidden secret door!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the Red Skull, he's been officially announced as the villain in the Captain America movie.
ReplyDeleteApparently the Red Skull dresses left, based on the jaunty folds of his trousers.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I hear a high-pitched voice crying "He-Man!" in a German accent?
ReplyDeleteThere really is nothing more embarrassing than realizing, right in the middle of the big fight, that you didn't bring enough murder and have to run home for more.
ReplyDeleteThe Skull is an exception among the classic Marvel villains in that he has nothing sympathetic in his background. Unlike, say, Dr. Doom or Magneto, he has no redeeming qualities at all.
ReplyDeleteWhich is why, of course, he makes such a great foil for Captain America.
How come no one has mentioned what he is saying in the cartoon? "I'll be back with more murder"
ReplyDeleteI was going to say what S. John said, but he beat me to it.
ReplyDeleteNo, really.
