I am seriously considering a con game based upon Search for the Emperor's Treasure. Turb here would be one of the pre-gens.
Putting a little eye and brow on the blade of a magic sword is just brilliant.
It's hard to hate elves when they look like this.
See how the cyclops is looking down at those two little dots to the right of his foot? Imagine those dots are your PC party.

Jeff, you got me with this one. I just bought a Best of Dragon Games box set off of ebay, which has the version of the game Tom recommends playing if you can.

Yeah, Holmes Basic seems like a good fit off the top of my head. But that just may be because of the Wham illos in the rulebook.
