That's the last line of the section entitled Example Of The Referee Moderating A Dungeon Expedition in The Underworld & Wilderness Adventures (Volume 3 of OD&D). It's probably best read in the same voice you'd use for "The beatings will continue until morale improves."

ReplyDeleteJeff, How Dare You?! It's all about the fellings and survival of the "Characters!" Don't you know that the new paradigm of RPGs is "outcome based adventuring?" You need to determine the CR or "threat level" or whatever and insure that the Characters survive and that the "players" have "fun!" It's the only way to play the game now..... (heh, the bear trap has been baited)
