    That film is so awesome. I never fail to smile when it turns out that Kirk and company have been fooling both the audience and their enemy as to the state of the enterprise. One of the best uses of the "things are not as bad as you thought" tropes in film (if I am remembering rightly).

    I know exactly what you mean. I was right there with Kirstie Alley, freaked out at Spock's deception. And the way Kirk was so cavalier about the whole thing was pure scoundrely goodness.
