Bakshi's Wizards is iconic for me. I think it's the reason I'm into D&D, fantasy, and just about everything else I'm into. It came out two years after I was born, but I've still probably seen it 15 times. And not just because of Ellinore.
How can you fail to love a wizard who smokes cigars with his feet?
Wizards makes a heck of a great game setting too. There is an incident that I had while DMing that still mortifies me (in a good way, of course) to this day:
Blackwolf made an illusory appearance to the party and one particular smart-ass refused to be intimidated. He said "Meh, your fly is down" to which I responded quickly "I'm not wearing any pants, elf!". That stopped the game for a few minutes with lots of laughter. :D

Ah, yes. I remember Wizards. I still have the movie poster of Peace packed away somewhere.
ReplyDeleteagreed!
ReplyDeleteShould I be concerned that I own this. On. DVD.
ReplyDeleteI figured you were going for this one: http://www.filmbuffonline.com/FBOLNewsreel/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/StarBlazers4.jpg
ReplyDeleteIf that doesn't deserve to be an Encounter Critical setting, I don't know what does.
ReplyDeleteYeeeeeeeeees.

"You killed Fritz!" Ironic you should bring this up - the NPC Fritz in my D&D campaign just bought it last week.

ReplyDeleteInteresting, I didn't see Cameron's film that way at all. The scientists/techies were the heroes.
