Rush's first album came out in 1974. Rush and D&D are very much tied together for me. I experienced both of them for the first time together, down in my cousin's basement, around 1976 or '77.

I arrived in 1974, so it was defintely a good year.
ReplyDeleteBaileys and Zardoz. That's one hellacious Combination.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, I just went through the Sinbad-Trilogy. Many D&D-isms are right there; especially the sensible interaction of spell effects: wall of force, invisibility used in a fight etc.
ReplyDeletePlus: Golden Voyage has Tom Baker as the Evil-Pact-Mage; whereas th Eye of the Tiger has no one less thatn Patrick Troughton as the Good-Alchemist-Guy. Awesome D&D movies in so many more ways than the Monsters.
The first issue of Marvel Comic's Man-Thing is dated Jan. 1974. Awesome stuff.
ReplyDeleteYoung Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles came out the same year? Wow, I never realized that. Why does it take so damn long to make movies these days?!
ReplyDeleteAD
Barking Alien

ReplyDeleteAhh, Zardoz...

Rockford Files FTW!
ReplyDeleteThe Ramones, Blondie, and Talking Heads all formed in '74 too. Good year indeed.
ReplyDeleteGiants walked the earth, in those days...
ReplyDelete- Calithena
Coming to this very late, but I felt compelled to point out that the song "Kung Fu Fighting" was released that year too.
